Pilotage Services
We have a reputation for success with exterme navigation on the Thames. The most notable being the planning and supervision of the motor barge 'Terra Marique' on her maiden voyage up the Thames to Isleworth to collect a Concorde (wing-less) to transport to Scotland in 2004.
Size Matters...
For vessels under 50m LOA there is currently no obligation for a "pilot" to be onboard when navigating the tidal Thames. However many Masters and Owners appretiate the comfort of having a highly experienced and knowledgable local watermen onboard. Hazards such as The Thames Barrier, varying depths, tidal flows and Thames bridges are all managed professionally when a waterman is engaged.
For craft over 50m LOA current river byelaws state a fully qualified PLA Pilot must be onboard. We can arrange for a pilot to meet the vessel at Gravesend and take her to her berth in London.
