The brand new racing yacht the HUGO BOSS IMOCA 60 visited London last week for her grand naming ceremony. Many famous celebrities and sports stars attended the celebrations with the backdrop of Canary Wharf and the City.
Livett’s played an invaluable role in coordinating the 60ft racing yacht’s passage to and from her berth in West India Docks. Hugo Boss required an experienced local skipper to help with the passage on the River Thames. Livett’s provided one of their most experienced Thames boat Captains, Mr. David Arnold. David is a BML qualified, fully licensed Thames Waterman and Captain of the London party boat, the replica paddle steamer Elizabethan.
David joined the Hugo Boss racing yacht at Gravesend piloting her up the river through Tower Bridge before returning to the West India Docks ready for her party! Livett’s Launches work boat ‘Meridian’ and high speed RIB boat ‘Lima Lima II’ acted as support and camera boats during the passage.
The yacht will be taking part in the ‘Barcelona World Race’ in December and will be skippered by famous yachtsman Alex Thompson. She is rumoured to be the fastest in her field so stands a very good chance of winning! See the photos below of the glamorous Hugo Boss vessel.
Livetts Launches specialise in providing local Captains to vessels visiting the Thames and travelling into London. As well as pilotage other services include; sourcing and arranging moorings, yacht agency, provision of support craft, mooring parties and bunkering. This is particularly relevant to large vessels whose crew maybe unfamiliar with the River Thames. Over the past 25 years Livett’s have worked with the Captains of a wide range of super yachts, cruise ships, racing yachts, commercial ships and other specialist craft. Contact the operations team in the offices on the HMS Belfast to discuss your requirements.
