Livett's Launches

25.05.09 - Second leg of Round Britain Voyage

The Scarlet Oyster sailed into London yesterday on the second leg of her voyage around Britain. Tower Bridge was lifted to allow the yacht to sail into the Upper Pool and berth alongside the historic floating naval museum, the HMS Belfast.

The Ellen MacArthur Trust takes young people aged between 8-18 sailing to help them regain their confidence, on their way to recovery from cancer, leukaemia and other serious illness. Five children will join the yacht for each leg of the voyage. They return to the hospital where they were treated to give encouragement and strength to other children currently fighting severe illness.

Chris Livett, friend of Ellen MacArthur, supported the London leg of the voyage helping bring the yacht up the River Thames. Livett’s organised much of the logistics of the yachts stay in Central London including the lifting of Tower Bridge, berths in the West India Docks and alongside Tower Bridge as well as the photography and support boats. The next stop on the voyage is Ipswich the third of the seventeen legs round Britain which culminate in Cowes in September.

Livett’s Launches is also supporting The Ellen MacArthur Trust for 2009 asking clients add a donation to their invoices.
