Guy Ritchie has been directing Warner Brother’s next movie blockbuster Sherlock Holmes from the land, water and the air! As Marine Coordinator Chris Livett has had an exciting and busy 10 months working with Mr. Ritchie. The marine locations for the filming have taken in sites such as the Liverpool Docks, Selsey Lifeboat Station, Chatham and the River Thames in Central London.
Livett’s have not only coordinated the water based shoots, but provided a safe working environment in these slightly less stable surroundings! Chris has helped ensure the desired shots are achieved in the safest and most cost effective manner. Some of the more extreme requests have seen some rather innovative solutions too!
As well as the more technical coordination and consultancy work Livett’s have also provided a range of other marine filming services including; action boats, camera boats, filming pontoons, craft for dressing and support vessels. Last week Chris went from the water to the sky coordinating a sequence at Tower Bridge with colleague Mark from Flying Pictures [link].
Livett’s Launches has an enviable reputation in the marine filming services sector with decades of experience coordinating some of the most complicated water based stunt sequences the UK has seen. Credits include Harry Potter, James Bond, Basic Instinct, Fantastic Four, Dead Fish, RocknRolla, to mention but a few!
“I love working on marine filming and television productions,” comments Chris Livett Managing Director of Livett’s Launches. “There is always a different challenge and an interesting take which pushes the boundaries of what can be done. Part of my job is to ensure the team can get the required shot, safely and at the best price.”
