27.02.09 - Livett’s bring Ellen MacArthur’s Round Britain Voyage to London

Chris Livett has worked with Dame Ellen MacArthur on several projects over the past 5 years. This Spring sees the Ellen MacArthur Trust taking over 85 children recovering from cancer and leukemia on a Round Britain Voyage.

Frank Fletcher CEO of The Ellen MacArthur Trust explains, “This is a unique voyage, in that it gives young people in recovery from cancer and leukemia the chance to share their own experiences with other young people in treatment “.

The children will be combining the sailing trip of a lifetime with going back to the hospitals to thank the people that cared for them and provide hope to those fighting the diseases. Each of the 17 legs of the Voyage will see 5 different children joining the boat.

The Trust is operated purely on voluntary donations. Chris Livett is helping bring the boat to London for the second leg of the Voyage in May.

“London is an amazing place to visit by boat, sailing up the Thames and approaching Tower Bridge is an incredible experience. It is great that these brave children get this opportunity,” comments Chris.

Whilst in London Chris has arranged moorings for the boat near Tower Bridge and also a short stint alongside the HMS Belfast by New City Hall, opposite the Tower of London.

“We are delighted that Chris and the team at Livett Launches are providing such fantastic support with the logistics during our visit to London as part of the Round Britain voyage it is great to know you are in such capable hands” comments Ellen.

The yacht will be in London between 14th – 21st May so check back for more pictures soon.
