The first Mayor's Thames Festival was deemed a huge sucess focusing on the Thames and it's banks for the entire weekend. A host of entertainment and activities were planned between Westminster and Tower Bridge. Encompassing the major sites along the shore as well as processions of boats and the famous Barge Race the festival brought a busy few days on the Thames to a spectacular close.
The event culminated on Sunday evening with a spectacular fireworks display in front of the Royal Festival Hall.
We provided the M.V. Golden Salamander for one of regular customers to enjoy the spectacle. We utilised our moorings opposite the BA London Eye (as close to the fireworks as was navigable) so they really had front row seats for the display.
Another of Mr. Livett's companies, Tidy Thames Refuse Services, used the commercial craft flotilla to mark the start of a pilot "Recycling by Water" scheme which the team have been developing with assistance from London Remade.
We hope this event is built on further for 2006...
